Can't catch a break

Almost as soon as I posted yesterday Kadyn started complaining of his ear hurting. I thought maybe he bonked it on Kai's swing and it was just sore. Well, he complained of it off and on yesterday but he was in SUCH a great mood that I didn't think much of it. Then, he was up for 2+ hours in the middle of night crying because his ear hurt. Kai was up the entire night (he would sleep in 20 minute blocks and then start screaming--reminded me of when Kadyn was a baby). Needless to say, I called first thing this morning to get them in to the Dr. Kadyn, bless his heart, has a double ear infection. Kai's ears were red, but not infected yet. Not quite sure why he was up all night other than he has a really bad cough, stuffy nose, etc. I'm exhausted as I'm sure they are but at least I have my health. I heart just breaks for them. It's been a long week. One nice thing though...Kadyn is finally old enough to tell me what's wrong :) Now for the most part I won't have to guess!

Two Year Old on Steroids

Imagine an active two year old like Kadyn. Now, imagine someone on steroids. Add the two together and what do you get? A hellion.

Kadyn has had croup for the past week and the Dr. put him on steroids on Monday. Never again, and I repeat, NEVER again will I put him on steroids unless it is the only thing that will save his life.

This child's personality has changed 180 degrees. He is literally walking around looking for trouble, disobeying, throwing fits, and laughing when he receives a consequence. He normally has empathy, not on steroids. He normally shapes up if a consequence is given, not on steroids. He normally takes naps, not on steroids. Where has my son gone?

And to top off the top of all horror stories...

He started calling me today when he was in his room for nap time. I walk in to find him in his crib (he now sleeps in a big boy bed but the crib is still in his room) naked from the waist down and covered, and I mean COVERED, in poop. COVERED! He had it on the sheet, the quilt, the stuffed animals, the rails, the floor, his hands, his feet, all down his leg...EVERYWHERE. EVERYWHERE!!!!!! I don't think I have ever been so disgusted in my entire life.

Anyone know the 1/2 life of steroids so I can predict when my son will be back?

Still smiling despite being sick

We've had more than our fair share of sickness these days. I swear Kadyn's nose is ALWAYS running and poor Kai held on to a cold so long it turned in to a sinus infection. Kadyn now has croup and despite being oh so hopeful and prayerful it looks like Kai is getting it too. Needless to say we haven't had much of an opportunity to do anything photo/blog worthy.

However, both boys (especially Kai) are still smiling!

Classic Kai look!
We were in the living room the other day and thought Kadyn was a bit too quiet in the other room...went in to the kitchen to see he had climbed in to Kai's carseat, covered himself up, and drawn the shade just like we do to Kai. "I'm yeady to go mama!"

Brothers

Kai

Kadyn
Kadyn

Kai

All the rest are of Kai

Kai will be 3 months on the 22nd. THREE MONTHS ALREADY?! We are having so much fun. Kadyn has been very in to "hold baby Ty" (He can't say the "K" so it comes out as "T"). Despite having a sinus infection Kai continues to be a happy, mellow baby. And as similar as the two boys look when comparing at this age (I'll post some better comparisons another day), their temperaments couldn't be more different.

A very fun week

Not only was this mommy's last week of maternity leave, but it just so happens that Kai got to meet some very special people! I was able to introduce Kai to our Aunt Chelsea and Uncle Cory AND our East Coast Grandpa. This was a special week indeed. We packed as much as we could in to one short week.

We visited every hot spot for kids in Bend: Working Wonders Children's Museum, the High Desert Museum, Bouncing Off the Walls, the Boat Park, and had some good quality time at home and Nana and Papa's house. Not to mention we got to go to "Aunt" Taylor and "Uncle" Jesse's wedding.

The week ended sooner than it began, but we're already looking forward to everyone's next visit.
