The Big O-N-E!!

Happy 1st Birthday Kai Isaac!

Last week Kai turned one. I am finally getting a chance to post about it. We moved in to our new house on his birthday so it's been quite chaotic ever since. I have a break now while Daddy and Kadyn put lights on the Christmas tree (Kai is taking a much needed nap).

Some milestones:

~Kai is not walking, though crawls at lightening speed. He's standing up, and creeping around furniture, however, he is very cautious. Not the dare-devil that his brother is...and this mama has to have a sigh of relief with that.

~Kai finds every opportunity to smack his head into something. He has more bruises, cuts, and scrapes on his face than any other kid I know.

~He's become a climber. We often turn around to find him up 2 stacks of boxes, in the dishwasher or our cupboards, etc.

~He continues to adore his brother. Their favorite time of day is "naked time" as Kadyn calls it. They chase each other around in the buff and squeal with delight. Who wouldn't like feeling the breeze? Ultimately, this has meant he hates getting dressed.~ God knew what he was doing giving us 2 boys. We love that they adore each other and have so much fun playing together. They are now sharing a room in our new place and won't go to sleep unless the other is there. Love it.

~Kai plays with toys. This might not seem big, but I don't remember Kadyn playing with toys this young.

~Though a lot of his words sound the same, he is clearly trying to communicate.

~He loves to put something in his hand and crawl around holding it. Usually a pencil or the stick to a drum. Something long and thin.

~Is down to nursing one time a day--just before bed! (More of an accomplishment for mommy!)

~We are beginning to realized the extent of his food allergies. Ugh. I didn't sign up for that!!! (I just have to think of it as God not giving me more than He thinks I can handle--I must have a stronger threshold than most!?!)

Happy Birthday Baby Boy! We love you Kai Isaac!

**Everyone is invited to the boy's joint birthday party a week from tomorrow; Sunday, December 6, at 3:30pm. Buzzzz on over!

Wow

I don't think mommy could have taken a picture any more similar. Crazy. The top is Kadyn. The bottom is Kai. Same age.

Boys Will Be Boys

Who Us?

Kai--Kadyn, what is that you have?

Kai--A monkey? Wait a minute, that looks like something I want...I think I'll just take it from you.

Kadyn--I don't think so...I'll put you in a headlock.

Kai--HAHA! I won!
Kadyn--NOOOO!!!! I was playing with that!

Kai--Victory is sweet.

Kadyn--Here Baby, now give it to me!

Kadyn and Kai--You mean we're boys and we can fight, duke it out, and then be friends again? Okay.

Kadyn and Kai--What? We're innocent.

(I am just noticing how red the boy's hair looks in these photos. Kai definitely has red highlights but Kadyn does not. And Kai isn't as red as these pics show!) hehe

Happy Halloween!

We had a fabulous time partaking in Halloween festivities! I was the Itsy Bitsy Spider and Kai was our cute little Pumpkin. We went trick or treating in the Old Mill at all the shops and then went around Grammie's neighborhood. At every stop I made sure to ask for 2 candies...one for me, and one for my baby brother. I was having so much fun I didn't want to stop, but I finely gave in to how tired my feet were...all 8 of them :)

Big Helpers!

The other day I overheard mommy saying that for everything she puts in a box, two things come back out. I have no idea what she meant...

We are GREAT helpers

Here's my baby brother helping mommy put groceries away. Hmm...I think more came out of the closet than actually went in.

Here we are helping daddy fix things at our new house. We emptied out his entire tool bag just to show him what great helpers we are.

And my pride and joy...I helped mommy paint one of the walls at our new house. I even got to pick out the color (this is a horrible picture of daddy but the only one that shows my masterpiece). And in case you're wondering what we're crawling in, that's our bathroom counter.

11 Months Old

It's hard to believe that a week has already passed since Kai hit his 11 month mark. WHAT?! You mean to tell me that my baby is almost ONE? Ugh. It seems hard to believe that it's almost been a year. Here are some 11 month highlights:

~Speed demon monkey crawler. I don't know how he does it but he pushes himself along with 1 leg and crawls with the other.

~Steadily pulls himself up on things (this is brand new just before turning 11 mo) and is slowly beginning to creep.

~It appears his hair will have more of the red highlights in it.

~Is now down to 1 nap a day.

~Has been waking up 1-2 times a night (see below)

~Is cutting all 4 top teeth.

~Loves to play with anything that belongs to his brother. You would think it's gold.

~Loves to empty anything...by throwing it across the room.

~His favorite game remains "ball" and he's very good at receiving it, then throwing/returning it.

~Loves to be naked and will squeal in delight and crawl away as fast as possible so you can't redress him.

~Is very in to mama right now :)

~Is nursing 3x a day (see above)

~Says "ball", "bye bye", "mama", "dada", "nana", "dahdah (means doggy)", "Ah-An (means Kadyn)

~Loves, loves, loves to read the Puppy and Kitty book and either smiles or giggles every time we make the barking dog sounds. "woof woof"

~Is very definitely a love with a hot temper :)

Kadyn-ism

1. We were having lunch at Grammie's house today and Grammie noticed that she was out of chips. Kadyn turns to mommy and says "Mommy, do you have any chips?"

Mommy says no and Kadyn declares "This is a perfect disaster!"

If only all our lives were so simple to think that a disaster was not having chips (and for the record...he hardly ever gets chips!)

2. We were singing This Old Man and it came to This Old Man, He Played Seven, He Played Knick Knack Up In Heaven...and Kadyn stops singing, looks at me, and says: "Mommy, I thought you said only people that died could go to heaven?"

Mommy: That's right, I did.

"But if this Old Man can play knick knack on the gate for number eight, then how did he get to heaven?"

Dumbfounded and completely caught off guard mommy: Um...Er...Maybe the gate is heaven's gate?

I guess that was a good enough answer to him cause he didn't ask anymore questions.
