Visiting Grandpa in Vermont

(get ready for picture overload--there were too many favorites to chose from so Mommy didn't)

After visiting T-Mom in Connecticut we drove up to Vermont. On the way we made a pit-stop at the same rest stop that mommy and Uncle Anders stopped at when they were little.
We had just as much fun as they use to and we were able to get a good stretch before getting back in the car.
We went apple picking and since I went with Grandpa the last time we were here, I decided to show Kai how to do it.
Kai ended up picking some great apples, but was reluctant to try them at first.
So instead, we got some yummy freshly made doughnuts. Those were a hit all around.
Afterwards we went to have a picnic in a picture. We were quite puzzled about what Grandpa really meant, but once we saw ourselves in this canvas...
and this one...
and this one...
We knew.
We spent the afternoon creating new pictures in the beauty that is Vermont Foliage.
And of course we threw in some kid fun too. We went on a mini hike to find some of the beautiful leafs...
and we rolled down the hills until Grandpa we almost puked.
Kai hung up his Vermont version of a white flag when he was pooped.
So, once we were thoroughly exhausted we went to watch some glider planes. Mommy recognized the spot as soon as we pulled in as the spot that Grandpa took her to when she was a little girl. We spent a long time watching the planes take off pulling gliders behind them, then watching the gliders and planes fly around and ultimately end their journey landing back on the ground.

After awhile we decided that we were able to muster up some more energy and had a leaf fight with Grandpa.
And Kai tried to shake leafs out of the tree so we could catch them as they fell.
I became a master leaf catcher.
And all that leaf catching wears a kid out so Grandpa surprised us by taking us to Ben and Jerry's. Wow, talk about an ice cream heaven. They even accommodated my nut allergy.
It didn't take too long for us to get ice cream comas.
But those quickly turned in to sugar highs and we had the wiggles once more. And please, allow me to introduce to you Ben and Jerry...
And since it was scheduled to be the nicest day of the week we went and had dinner down by the pier in Burlington so we could watch the sunset.
And get the rest of our wiggles out before bed.
Okay, so Grandpa thought we would get all our wiggles out at the park, but alas, we are only 2 1/2 and 4 1/2...and boys...and brothers. Ha ha ha we fooled him. We managed to convince him to play hide the nerf ball with us.
Mommy promises we are not peeing on the door, just hiding our eyes while she hides the balls.
It was hard to follow up a day like the first day with Grandpa, but we tried. We started out by picking some yummy raspberries. Kai had to have a lesson in proper raspberry picking etiquette.
He's a remarkably fast learner.
And he's an even better eater...it's amazing that he was able to fill his whole bucket.
Mommy wasn't as diligent with the camera the rest of the day, but we did attempt to go back down to the park by the pier again, but the stink didn't allow us to last long. It smelled like a toilet. We did manage to squeeze in a bit of fun before finding a new park though.
Hard to believe Kadyn was 10 months old the last time we were in Vermont.  LOVE this picture of him.
And of course, our trip wouldn't be complete without a trip to Shelburne Farm. We explored it high and low.
And Kai even had a face off with a giant sheep. The sheep decided he was glad there was a fence between he and Kai because cuteness can kill.
We even went on a mini hike.
Kai ended up turning around with mommy to help her search for some good coffee. (In case you were wondering...it does not exist. Dunkin Doughnuts is the only thing half way decent--using the term lightly.)

Thank you Grandpa for such a fun visit! We loved doing puzzles and playing cards with you. And mostly getting to spend some good quality time with you. We love you!

Hi Greta!
Looks like you guys had a great time in Vermont! For some reason I didn't realize your dad was still here!? It must have been so fun to go to the places you went to when you were little with your boys, if you ever want to show them around Middlebury you certainly have a place to stay!! It's funny you posted this, I was just thinking about you the other day, I was driving down south street and had to turn around so I did a loop in Chipman park and drive by your old house! I haven't been by there in years but it's funny how it seems like just yesterday we were playing there together!
